Your Teen Doesn't Have to Navigate This Alone

About Sally McClain, LCSW

Therapy for Teen Girls & Young Adults Facing Anxiety, Perfectionism & Life Transitions

I believe healing happens in relationship.

Not through worksheets or rigid protocols, but through genuine connection, creative expression, and honoring your unique experience.

My approach combines traditional therapy with expressive, somatic, and nature-based techniques, as I recognize that talking alone is often insufficient.

Sometimes you need to move your body, create something with your hands, or simply breathe fresh air to access what's really going on inside.

Owner of Next Gen Therapy

I started NEXT GEN THERAPY because I knew…

specialize in working with pre-teens, teens, and young adults who are navigating high anxiety, self-esteem struggles, disordered eating, and the messy, complicated shift from adolescence into adulthood. My clients are often the “good kids”—the perfectionists, the quiet strugglers, the ones who hold it all together on the outside but are falling apart inside.

They might be battling panic attacks, body image issues, or the intense pressure to do everything right. They might be preparing to leave home for the first time or silently managing the impact of family stress, addiction, or chronic illness.

Therapy with me doesn’t look like a stiff office and a clipboard.
It might look like a walk-and-talk session with my therapy dog by my side.
Or sitting cross-legged on the floor, creating vision boards, journaling, or playing a game while we talk.
Whatever helps your teen feel more comfortable and open—that’s what we’ll do.

I build trust through comfort, creativity, and compassion. And from that place of safety, we get to work.

At our practice, we do things differently

Forget the image of stiff chairs and silent note-taking. We believe therapy should feel natural, engaging, and—most importantly—tailored to you. That means creating an environment where clients feel safe, seen, and comfortable enough to be themselves.

Sometimes that looks like a walk-and-talk session on a quiet trail, where movement helps ease anxiety and open up conversation. Other times, it might mean sitting on the floor with art supplies, creating vision boards or collage journals that help express things words can’t always capture. We play games that build trust, laugh when it’s needed, and get creative with journaling or prompts that spark self-reflection and insight. For some, it’s simply about having a real, honest conversation—cross-legged on the floor, no pressure, just connection.

Whether you're a high schooler navigating perfectionism, a college student feeling overwhelmed by transition, or a young adult still figuring it all out—we meet you exactly where you are, not where the world expects you to be. That’s where real growth begins.

Hi, …. Description Here

If you're tired of feeling stuck or watching someone you love struggle in silence, it might be time to reach out.

Growing up is hard. Transitioning to adulthood is overwhelming. And doing it alone makes everything harder.

You don't have to figure this out by yourself.
